Minnesota in Egypt

Several faculty members at the University of Minnesota work on aspects of Late Antique Egypt from papyri to potsherds. One subject of interest is monasticism, and so in 2003 we organized a symposium entitled:

LIVING FOR ETERNITY:

THE WHITE MONASTERY AND ITS NEIGHBORHOOD

Monasticism began in Egypt, and the "White Monastery" and its surroundings constitute one of its greatest monuments.
